Bicyclist, doctor dies after hit and run crash with semi truck

A man has passed after being struck by a semi truck in Illinois over the weekend. 

The accident happened on US Route 150 in Champaign County, Illinois at 4:20 p.m. on October 10th but the man remained in critical condition until his death on Tuesday, October 13th at 10:23 p.m.

Illinois State Police say that three bicyclists were heading west on Route 150 along the right side of the highway when a tractor trailer hit two of them, leaving Dr. William K Schuh with “great bodily harm.”

Officers say that the rig did not stop, leaving the scene of the crime. 

The truck was “possibly white and silver-colored,” police say. 

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague Dr. Bill Schuh, who died following injuries sustained in an accident Sunday,” said Carle Foundation Hospital Public Relations Manager Jamie Mullin, where Schuh passed. 

“He was an exemplary colleague who, after joining Carle in 1996, went on to serve as Chief Medical Information Officer and Medical Director of Informatics and Analytics and served as a clinical associate professor at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine.”

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and gratitude for his service.”
