A truck driver from California who lost his life to COVID-19 shared a warning message to others on Facebook shortly before he passed away.
Trucker Tommy Macias, 51, died in the hospital on June 21 from complications caused by Coronavirus after he attended a party in Lake Elsinore.
Macias was overweight and suffered from diabetes, which put him at increased risk from the virus.
On June 20, just one day before Macias passed away, he shared a Facebook post detailing his regrets.
He wrote:
“Some of you know, but most don’t. I (expletive) up and went out a couple of weeks ago and I contracted the coronavirus. Monday I tested for it and it was confirmed on Thursday. Because of my stupidity, I put my mom and sisters and my family’s health in jeopardy. This has been a very painful experience.”
This is no joke. If you have to go out wear a mask and practice social distancing. Don’t be a (expletive) idiot like me. Thank you to all my friends that have brought me food, and to everyone who has been there for me. Hopefully, with God’s help, I’ll be able to survive this. Love you all.”
Macias’s former employer R.W. Burkett shared a message of condolence after he passed.
