CHP Said Man Stood In Front of Truck Before Being Fatally Run Over

Published:

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 78-year-old male stood in front of a truck before being fatally run over.

The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 5:30 pm in the 23000 block of Temescal Canyon Road.

CHP reported that the victim, Kenneth Clingman, pulled his Toyota Tacoma alongside the semi. Clingman got out of his vehicle and stood near the right front side of the semi where the driver could not see him.

The truck driver had pulled onto the dirt lot to take a rest. When he attempted to leave the lot, the trucker ran over Clingman.

“(The driver) was unaware of the man’s location when he began to drive away,” California Highway Patrol Officer Juan Quintero said. “His rig and trailer ran over the victim, and in the process, produced fatal injuries.”

The truck driver did stop when he realized he had ran over Clingman. He called 911. When first responders arrived, they declared Clingman dead at the scene.

It is unclear why Clingman stood in front of the truck. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the CHP’s Riverside office at 951-637-8000.
