Church, truckers team up to feed and clothe families in need

Five semi trucks stuffed with food, toys, and other essentials will be distributed throughout the state of Oklahoma this week .

Feed the Children, a nonprofit aimed at eliminating childhood hunger, has partnered with Prospect Church in Oklahoma City to help families in need this holiday season, reported MSN News.

The five big rigs packed with food, books, toys, and other household essentials hit the road at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15th, and are expected to reach their five destination cities within 24 hours. 

Each of the five Oklahoma cities will then host distribution events where participating families will receive the following:

  • A 25-pound box of shelf-stable food such as canned vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, pasta and macaroni & cheese
  •  A 15-pound box of hygiene items such as toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and deodorant
  •  Children’s books and toys
