CPR, helicopter transport administered to truck driver following freak electrocution

Published:

A truck driver is in serious condition following an electrocution incident outside a feed silo in Virginia on Tuesday.

The accident happened at 4:07 p.m. on Meadow Street in Galax, Virginia on December 1st.

According to witnesses at the scene, the feed-hauling truck driver was standing outside of his truck, moving his truck’s tube over the silo where the feed was to be stored, when the tube struck a nearby powerline. The contact between the tube and the powerline caused an electrical current to pass through the drivers body, electrocuting him.

The witness says they heard a big “boom” and ran over to the truck to investigate, where they found the driver laying on the ground, unresponsive.

Emergency services were called and EMTs performed CPR on the driver for several minutes before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he was then loaded onto a helicopter for transportation to another facility.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2nd, the driver’s name and current condition are still not known. reported Galax Gazette.
