Crash sends semi into two buildings, two parked vehicles, two people and a trailer

A crash on the highway sent a trucker on a wild ride.

According to the Illinois State Police, a minivan was traveling northbound on McLeansboro Street in at approximately 11:30 am on Friday, July 10 in Benton, Illinois when it failed to stop at a stop sign.

The minivan plowed into the front of a truck that was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 14.

The crash sent the truck off the road where it then hit 2 buildings, 2 people, 2 vehicles and a trailer.

The driver of the minivan, Joshua Simms, 36, of Christopher, Illinois, fled the scene but was later caught by authorities.

The truck driver was not injured in the accident. The two people that were hit by the truck were taken to a hospital for treatment of “non-lifetheatening injuries.”
