Driver, passenger walk away from truck that plummeted off interstate

Published:

A delivery truck driver and their passenger were not seriously injured in a wreck that sent their delivery truck plunging off of the interstate on Monday.

The accident happened on December 14th at around 2:55 p.m. in Phoenix, Arizona.

According to AZ Family News, the delivery truck was driving along Interstate 17 southbound near the 19th avenue exit when the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck the barrier wall, and plummeted 20 feet onto the street below. The force of the impact sent one axle of the rig flying into lanes of traffic.

Miraculously, both the driver and the passenger of the truck were able to escape the mangled rig themselves, and did not sustain any injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital only “as a precaution.”

DPS is still investigating the reason behind the crash and it is not clear what citations, if any, will be issued as a result of the incident.
