Driver rescued from mangled rig

A semi truck driver was pulled from a mangled rig in New Jersey on Sunday. 

The accident happened on October 18th in Elizabeth, New Jersey. 

According to the Elizabeth New Jersey Fire Officers, off-duty Captain Wasacz was on his way to work when he responded to exit 13 on the New Jersey Turnpike for an overturned semi truck.

When Wasacz arrived, it became clear the the truck driver was stuck inside the mangled cab, so he called for backup. An EMS truck and multiple tours of firefighters soon responded, extricating the driver from the rig. 

The unnamed truck driver was then transported to a nearby hospital. Their current condition is not known.
