FDOT converting rest stop to ‘truck-only’ parking

Published:

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is kicking car drivers out of a rest area in Seminole County, making it a ‘truck-only’ parking facility.

FDOT recently announced that the eastbound I-4 rest area located 2 miles north of SR 434 in Longwood will close “as early as February 18” to both car and truck drivers as part of a construction project.

The rest area then will be modified to include parking for trucks only. FDOT says that “the truck parking area and facilities will remain open to truck drivers only. “

FDOT says that car parking will be removed from the rest stop in order to “accommodate a new stormwater pond for a new eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) auxiliary lane.”
