The 2020 US Capitol Christmas tree kicked off its journey to Washington D.C. this week, marking the unofficial start of the Holiday Season.
Each year, the US Capitol Christmas tree is selected from a different US National Forest and taken on a tour through the US as it makes its way to the White House. This year, the tree was selected from the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National forests in Colorado; but thanks to COVID 19, the tour will look a little different.
The festive semi truck hauling the Capitol tree will make stops at 10 different communities for viewing opportunities between November 10th and 20th. Many of these stops will offer ‘drive-by’ viewing in observance of coronavirus and social distancing regulations.
The tree will make several stops in Colorado and one in Asheville, North Carolina before finally arriving at the Whitehouse in Washington D.C. A full schedule of events can be found here.
The tree, hauled by a custom decorated Kenworth T680 operated by Apex Transportation, will complete its 2,000 mile journey on Friday, November 20th.
