Fire that destroyed 12 trucks was arson, $31K reward offered

Investigators have determined that an early morning fire at an Indianapolis trucking business was the result of arson.

The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, at the M&K Truck Center in Indianapolis. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze in about 45 minutes, but not before devastating damage was done to vehicles on the property.

No one was injured, but 12 trucks of the burned trucks were a total loss and seven others were heavily damaged. The damage caused by the fire is estimated at approximately $1 million.

On Thursday afternoon, the Indianapolis Fire Department investigators ruled that arson was the cause of the fire.

“It is devastating that this intentional arson occurred on our property today. We are grateful that there were no personal injuries and for the rapid response of the fire department,” M&K Truck Center said about the morning’s fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central IN 317-262-8477. A reward of up to $31,000 is offered for information leading to a felony arrest.
