Gripping video shared on social media shows a truck leaving the interstate and traveling down a steep embankment before crashing across a roadway and into a retention pond.

The incident reportedly occurred on October 15 on I- 84 near the Delaware Valley School District in Matamoras, Pennsylvania.

The Westfall Township Fire Department describes the crash:

Earlier today, just before the lunchtime hour, the rescue engine along with automatic mutual aid from The Matamoras Fire Department (32 rescue) and Port Jervis Ambulance Corps were dispatched for a tractor trailer accident. The tractor trailer was traveling West on Interstate 84 and crossed the median along with the east bound lanes and went down the embankment crossing RT 6&209. It then came to rest in a retention pond at the Delaware Valley School complex. There were no other vehicles involved and the driver only suffered minor injuries. The trucks fuel system did rupture however and leaked approximately 100 gallons of fuel which is still in the process of being cleaned up. We want to thank the following agencies that assisted on scene: Matamoras FD, Port Jervis EMS, Eastern Pike Regional Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), DV School officials and the school resource officers, TAM Enterprises Inc., Prestige Towing & Recovery, Westfall Ema and Pike County Emergency Management.
