Pennsylvania police say that a man is dead after leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a pursuit and then barricading himself inside a truck on Monday night.

The incident began on June 29 when Task Force members with the US Marshals were asked to locate a 48 year old male Indiana resident who was wanted for homicide probation violation, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police.

The Task Force located a semi truck that was suspected to be transporting the man in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

During the traffic stop, the driver of the truck exited the vehicle.

The Task Force confirmed that the passenger was the 48 year old suspect they were seeking.

The man refused to exit the truck and fled the traffic stop, leading police on a pursuit that “spanned multiple miles and jurisdictions.”

Troopers say that attempts to disable the truck failed.

Eventually, the man drove the truck to Hazleton, Pennsylvania, where the truck became stuck in a grassy area near a skating rink.

The suspect refused to exit the truck and a three hour standoff ensued. He also “intermittently fired weapons from the vehicle toward State Troopers.”

The standoff ended when the suspect was finally shot and killed.

Pennsylvania State Police are still investigating.
