Georgia cops say DUI truck driver almost crashed into inspection bay pit

Georgia officials say that a truck driver is in hot water following a Level I inspection that didn’t go very well.

On January 20, the Georgia Department of Public Safety detailed their encounter with a truck driver under the influence via Facebook.

Violation of the Week – Driving Under the Influence

A Region 4 Officer stopped this CMV for a random Level 1 Inspection, as the driver was pulling into the inspection pit he almost ran into the hole of the pit. The Officer’s training led to suspicion the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The officer performed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test on the driver in which he did not pass. The driver then was given a roadside breathalyzer and tested well over the legal limit for a CDL. During the vehicle inspection it was discovered the driver had two empty bottles of alcohol, a false log and four of the 10 brakes were out of service along with several other violations.
