Gunman still at large after trucking yard shooting

A gunman is still at large after fatally shooting a man at a trucking yard early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at around 6:50 a.m. in the Queen St. E. and Rutherford Rd N. area of Toronto, Canada.

According to the Toronto Sun, a truck driver picking up his rig discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds at the yard, and promptly called police.

Police and paramedics responded to the call but were unable to save the victim’s life, and he died at the scene.

“In that enclosed trucking yard we did locate a male who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics did arrive quickly on scene,” Const. Danny Marttini told reporters on Friday morning.

During the incident, a nearby daycare was put on lockdown ‘as a precaution.’

Police are still investigating the incident, reviewing security camera footage, and speaking to witnesses, saying that they haven’t ruled out the possibility that the victim was shot somewhere else and dumped in the yard.

“In regards to any potential suspect information at this point, we don’t have that. And that’s because we are needing to review any video footage, we are having to go and look for witnesses,” Marttini said to CP24 News.

“To our knowledge, we don’t have an actual sound of shots fired. That is not to say that there isn’t another witness out there that may have heard something and that will be part of our investigation,” Marttini continued.

“We haven’t found any additional evidence regarding any ammunition…Our forensic unit is actually currently on site and they are combing the space. So there could still be evidence that might be located…. Depending on the different camera angles, some of them may have picked up either people or vehicles coming in and out of the area.”
