Here’s a chilling inside-look at the realities of trucking

Published:

A CDLLife App member shared her makeshift strategy for feeling secure while alone OTR in a somewhat chilling post to the app this week.

App member Pocono Princess posted the photo depicting her makeshift door lock fashioned from a seatbelt and bungee cord, all connected to her air horn, making for an extra loud security system.

“When you’re stuck at a creepy place for your sleeper this is one way a girl can feel safe,” she wrote.

Fellow app users took to the comments to praise her ingenuity and even to offer advice for a better system.

Unfortunately, recent surveys show that 40% of crimes committed against truck drivers are violent, including assault and rape. Between traffic accidents and crimes committed against drivers when they stop for the night, it’s no wonder that truck driving has historically been ranked as one of the deadliest jobs in the country. While some cities are considered to be more dangerous than others, in this industry, it never hurts to be cautious

Thank you to the CDLLife community for helping to keep each other safe. Please be careful out there, drivers.
