Homeless bicyclist dies after running red light, crashing into semi truck

A homeless New York City bicyclist died Thursday afternoon after running a red light and crashing into the back of a moving semi truck. 

The accident happened on November 6th at around 1:45 p.m. in the Mott Haven neighborhood in the Bronx in New York City, New York. 

According to the New York Daily News, a 22-year-old homeless man, Michael Basurto Larino, was heading west on Bruckner Boulevard on his bicycle when he ran a red light through an intersection. After running the light, Larino crashed right into the back of a semi truck traveling south on Brown Place. 

First responders were able to transport Larino to a nearby hospital, but he soon succumbed to his injuries. 

The 34-year-old unidentified truck driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.
