As a major tropical storm threatens Florida, a cargo security firm issued a warning for truckers who may be in the area.
On Thursday, cargo theft security firm SensiGuard issued a warning for both shippers and truckers who may be in the path of a major hurricane over the weekend.
Forecasters say that Hurricane Isaias is expected to reach the eastern seaboard of the U.S. sometime over the weekend or early next week. Experts believe that the hurricane will strengthen over the weekend as it nears Florida and that it will then head up the east coast, possibly as far north as New England next week.
Per the SensiGuard notice, truckers should monitor weather conditions and contact shippers or receivers to ensure that they will be open. The group suggests making alternate plans for secure staging areas outside of the predicted storm area. The notice also recommends using GPS tracking to deter cargo thieves taking advantage of the chaos caused by the storm.
A hurricane watch is currently in effect in Florida from north of Deerfield Beach to the Volusia-Brevard County line. A tropical storm warning is place in several parts of the Florida Peninsula.
