The high winds and powerful storms are a result of tropical storms moving across the Mid Atlantic states due to hurricane Isaias. Isaias was upgraded from a tropical storm to a Category 1 hurricane Monday evening. The hurricane made landfall late Monday night near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Since then, it has been downgraded back down to a tropical storm.

Drivers should take proper safety precautions when traveling through extreme weather. The National Weather Service has issued warnings about expected storm conditions and the dangerous flooding that is likely to happen across the New England area.
