Around 11 a.m., the Illinois State Police District Chicago issued a traffic warning for the Dan Ryan Expressway.
A major protest activity has been scheduled to take place on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Saturday at noon. Protesters are expected to start marching at 47th, travel north, and finish at Grant Park
Three groups have partnered in the schedule a shutdown of a major interstate in Chicago to protest police brutality. More than 2000 people are expected to participate.
The organizing groups are the Chicago Activist Coalition for Justice, Tikkun-Chai International, and Pilsen-Humboldt Park Anti-Gentrification Group.
State troopers and city police say that they will be monitoring the protest activity closely and will step in if it turns violent.
