A lucky truck driver won a $480,592 lottery ticket in North Carolina last week.
The truck driver, Timothy Tucker, purchased a Cash 5 lottery ticket in North Carolina. According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Tucker purchased the ticket at Mr. Pete on Brevard Road in Henderson, North Carolina, before a drive to Boston to buy his Quick Pick tickets.
Tucker told Lottery officials that his wife didn’t believe him when he told her they had won.
“I had to take my truck to the shop,” Tucker said. “I told her, ‘if you let me drive your car to Raleigh, I’ll pay it off for you’ − because she just bought a new car last year. She took off work today and rode down here with me.”
Tucker will take home $340,020 after taxes. He said he’ll use the money to “retire a little bit earlier.”
