Indiana State Police say that they arrested and charged an Indianapolis man who allegedly threatened a truck driver with a gun during a road rage incident.
The incident occurred at 7:35 a.m. on July 20 in Grant County, Indiana, according to a news release from Indiana State Police.
Both state troopers and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a motorist who had allegedly brandished a gun on I-69.
Troopers say that a 41 year old truck driver based out of Fort Wayne was southbound on I-69 near the 266 mile marker when the truck was reportedly cut off by a 2007 Ford Mustang driven by Jerry Steele, 53, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Police say that the truck driver sounded his horn in response to being cut off.
Steele then reportedly stuck a handgun out of the car window and fired a shot into the air.
Officers located the Mustang near mile marker 251 in Delaware County.
Police say that during the investigation, they found a nine millimeter Ruger handgun in Steele’s vehicle that had been reported stolen.
Steele was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
