Man arrested for setting semi trailer on fire during protest

New York police have arrested a man who allegedly set fire to a tractor trailer during a protest last month.

On June 15, the Albany Police Department announced that they had arrested 24 year old Ah-Juan Boyd on charges of Riot 1st (E Felony), Arson 3rd (C Felony) and Criminal Mischief 2nd (D Felony).

Albany police described the circumstances leading up to Boyd’s arrest:

On Saturday, May 30, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Boyd was a participant in a riot on South Pearl Street in which rioters stopped a tractor trailer on South Pearl Street and removed the driver. Boyd then proceeded to set fire to the tractor trailer as it was parked in the middle of South Pearl Street at Westerlo Street.

Authorities say that Boyd was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on June 15 and released on his own recognizance.
