A Florida man who was arrested last week on dozens of child pornography charges died early this morning after running in front of a semi truck.
The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Monday, February 24, in Sarasota County, Florida.
Florida State Troopers say that 65 year old Gerald Nicolas was standing on the shoulder of I-75 at mile marker 209 when he suddenly ran into the lanes of the interstate and was hit by an oncoming semi truck.
Nicolas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forty-eight year old Florida-based truck driver David Lawrence was not injured in the crash.
On February 19, Nicolas was arrested by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office on 50 counts of possessing child pornography.
Nicolas was also under investigation for allegedly exposing himself at local beaches.
Nicolas was released on February 21 on $50,000 bond.
