Man struck by semi during Teamster strike at Ohio Coca-Cola plant

Published:

A man was hit by a tractor trailer during a strike outside of a Coca-Cola Botting Co. Plant in Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday.

The pedestrian strike occurred around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Catawba Street and West Sylvania Avenue as 54 year old truck driver Peter C. Johns was making a turn.

Toledo police say that 59 year old Jeff Rudnicki was legally in the intersection but that he moved in a way that “intentionally caused him to be struck by the trailer.”

Rudnicki was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Johns wasn’t hurt.

The pedestrian strike occurred after Teamsters Local 20 went on strike on Monday, November 2 over contract negotiations.

It isn’t clear whether Rudnicki was participating in the strike.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to the Toledo Blade.
