Men arraigned on charges after setting fire to semi truck during riots in New York

Two Albany, New York, men have been arraigned on charges after allegedly setting a semi truck on fire and attempting to set a police car on fire during violent riots.

“On Saturday, May 30, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Boyd was a participant in a riot on South Pearl Street in which rioters stopped a tractor trailer on South Pearl Street and removed the driver. Boyd then proceeded to set fire to the tractor trailer as it was parked in the middle of South Pearl Street at Westerlo Street,” Albany Police stated.

According to Albany District Attorney David Soares, Dwight Parker, 39, and Ah-Juan Boyd, 25, face numerous charges for their alleged involvement.

Parker faces charges of one count of Attempted Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer as a Crime of Terrorism, a Class B Violent Felony, one count of Attempted Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer, a Class C Violent Felony, one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a Class C Violent Felony, 1 count of Arson in the Third Degree, a Class C Felony, 1 count of Riot in the First Degree, a Class E Felony, and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

Boyd been charged with one count of Arson in the Third Degree, a Class C Felony, one count of Attempted Arson in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

Boyd has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been released on bond. Parker has also pleaded not guilty but remains in jail.
