More than 8400 Volvos recalled for sleeper bunk window that could detach

Transportation authorities say that there will be a major recall for certain newer model Volvo trucks for a possible window defect that could cause a crash or injure a pedestrian.

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents from October 27, Volvo Trucks North America issued a recall for certain 2020 VNL vehicles.

Recall documents state that the “window hinge and mounting hardware are insufficient to hold the window in place if the truck is driven with the sleeper bunk windows open … If a window detaches from the vehicle, it may strike another vehicle or pedestrian, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.”

A total of 8,456 vehicles are affected by the recall.

The recall is expected to begin on November 27, 2020. Volvo Trucks North America will notify truck owners and dealers will recall the window hinge free of charge.

Truck owners with questions may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-458-1552 and reference recall number RVXX2005.
