More than 100 workers will be laid off soon due to the permanent closure of a New York trucking company.
Trucking company New York Express and Logistics will close down for good on March 31, 2020, according to a WARN notice filed on December 30.
A total of 107 workers will be laid off on March 31.
New York Express and Logistics cites the loss of a contract with delivery company DHL as the reason for the closure.
New York Express and Logistics is a subsidiary of New Hampshire-based North East Freightways Inc.
The New York Express and Logistics closure is one of the first trucking company shut downs of 2020. Last year, hundreds of trucking companies closed permanently, including Falcon Transport, LME, NEMF, and Celadon. Texas-based trucking company Fleetwood Transportation Services, which employed about 240 truck drivers, closed down at 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2019.
