One of the nation’s largest trucking shows cancelled for Coronavirus

Published:

Just hours after assuring attendees that the 2020 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) would go on as planned, event organizers have confirmed that the show is canceled.

The MATS trucking show was scheduled to take place at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky, from March 26 — 28, 2020.

However, on March 12, a MATS representative confirmed to CDLLife over the phone that the event organizers have decided to cancel the event in the face of mounting concerns over the spread of Coronavirus.

On March 11, MATS organizers were still optimistic that the event would take place in spite of the virus. They issued a press release assuring attendees that MATS was not cancelled and that 850 exhibitors and 50,000 attendees were confirmed. On-site set up for the event at the Kentucky Expo Center had already begun, organizers said.

The World Health Organization has declared Coronavirus a pandemic and more than 1,290 cases have been reported in the United States. Experts have recommended that large gatherings be cancelled to slow the spread of the virus.

This is a developing story.
