One operator remotely controls two driverless trucks in demo video

Published:

Swedish driverless truck tech startup Einride has released video demonstrating how one person at a remote location can control multiple cargo trucks.

In a video released on April 7, an Einride operator remotely controls two driverless trucks using a steering wheel and video display at a busy loading dock location.

The company says that this is the first time that the technology has been deployed at a customer site.

“This technology sets the precedent for a future where one remote operator can take responsibility for several self-driving Pods, monitoring them when in autonomous mode and taking active control of a vehicle for unforeseen or more complicated maneuvers, such as parking at a loading dock,” the company said.

Einride says that their technology will transform what it means to be a trucker: “This technology sets the precedent for a future where one remote operator can take responsibility for several self-driving Pods, monitoring them when in autonomous mode and taking active control of a vehicle for unforeseen or more complicated maneuvers, such as parking at a loading dock.”
