Oregon troopers issue warning after string of shootings on busy interstate

Published:

Oregon State Police (OSP) are asking for tips after multiple vehicles were hit by gunfire on I-5 in recent weeks.

On July 14, OSP issued a statement about multiple vehicles being targeted by a shooter on I-5 between Roseburg and Grants Pass.

At least one of the vehicles targeted by the shooter was a semi truck, according to local news outlet Fox 26.

“In the last several weeks OSP has investigated 5 vehicles that have been struck by bullets on Interstate 5 between milepost 67 and 100,” troopers wrote.

So far, no one has been injured, OSP says.

OSP also issued the following guidance for drivers who travel through the area:

If you are traveling in the area and believe your vehicle has been struck with a bullet please call 911, note the time, location and if possible continue out of the area.

If you have information regarding the shootings or if you believe your vehicle has been struck please contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center at 1-800-442-2068 or *OSP – Reference OSP Case #SP20-173444.

There have been other highway shootings targeting truckers so far this week in Michigan and Wisconsin.
