Part of Three Mile Bridge is missing after Hurricane Sally

A major bridge structure in Florida is severely damaged amid the destruction caused by Hurricane Sally.

On Wednesday, officials confirmed that a portion of Three Mile Bridge in Pensacola, Florida, is missing after it was struck by a barge during the hurricane.

The Three Mile Bridge (also known as the Pensacola Bay Bridge) carries a portion of Highway 98 and connects Pensacola with Gulf Breeze.

Three Mile Bridge is currently closed until further notice. Early reports indicate it could take three to six months for the bridge to reopen.

Santa Rosa County Emergency Management issued a safety alert warning drivers not to attempt to cross the bridge.
