Police say that a 52 year old truck driver hauling double trailers pulled off onto the emergency lanes of westbound I-4 and was standing on the driver’s steps outside of the truck when the crash occurred.
Troopers say that 21 year old Travis Hutto, driving a Dodge pickup truck, for unknown reasons veered off the interstate into the emergency lane and struck both the driver and the truck.
The truck driver was thrown under his own semi truck by the force of the collision.
The truck driver was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Hutto wasn’t hurt.
Police say that charges are pending against Hutto. Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash.
All lanes of I-4 have reopened.
