Pileup involving multiple semis causes heavy traffic backups on I-70

Missouri transportation authorities are urging drivers to find alternate routes following a multi-vehicle pileup on I-70.

The crash occurred before 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon on I-70 at the Missouri River Bridge near Columbia, Missouri.

According to Boone County Fire, “multiple tractor trailers” were involved in a collision in the westbound lanes of I-70 during winter weather conditions. In video captured at the scene, you can also see several passenger vehicles involved in the crash.

The exact number of vehicles involved in the crash and the number of people injured isn’t clear this time.
