A stolen tractor-trailer rammed into the side of a car on Tenn. Highway 36, killing a Johnson City man.
The driver of the stolen semi was 28-year-old Joshua Hammonds of Blountville.
Washington County 911 dispatchers advised troopers to be on the lookout for the semi, which was allegedly driving recklessly without headlights southbound in Sullivan County.
When troopers spotted the tractor-trailer, they attempted a stop. Hammonds continued, running the red light at the intersection with Tenn. Highway 75.
The truck swerved across the center line near Ed Martin Road in Washington County, hitting a Saturn SL1 head-on. The driver of the car, 60-year-old, Timmy Hensley of Johnson City was killed.
Hammond was also injured during the collision.
Hammond faces criminal charges and citations.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crimes.
