Police in Laredo, Texas, uncovered a major human smuggling operation while investigating an unattended truck at a business location.
On Thursday, October 15, the Laredo Police Department received a report about a suspicious vehicle parked behind a Burlington Coat Factory store on San Bernardo Avenue.
Witnesses told police that they spotted two people being placed inside the truck’s trailer.
When officers arrived on scene they found a truck with the motor running but no driver in sight. Officers reported hearing voices coming from inside the trailer.
After noticing that the trailer doors were ajar, officers opened them and discovered 63 undocumented immigrants inside.
After the immigrants were checked out by Laredo firefighters and determined to be okay, they were handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
