Police puzzled after finding unattended truck ablaze

Minnesota police are working to learn more after discovering an unoccupied semi truck burning along the shoulder of a roadway.

Officers with the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about the burning truck just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, on County Road 75 in St. Augusta, Minnesota.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 2016 red Freightliner semi truck without a trailer completely engulfed in flames.

Authorities were unable to locate the truck driver or any other witnesses other than the caller.

The St. Augusta Fire Department responded to put out the fire, but the truck was a total loss.

The circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal’s Office.
