POLICE: Saturday night saw 1 weather-related crash every 10 minutes in Wisconsin

A total of 18 crashes occurred on the same stretch of road in Wisconsin on Saturday night, police say.

Each of the 18 crashes occurred along a 7.5 mile stretch of roadway between Highway KR and Highway K in Racine County, Wisconsin between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., reported The Journal Times.

Officers attribute this series of wrecks to “a combination of freezing roadways and (drivers) operating too fast for conditions.”

Luckily, only five injuries were sustained in the chaos that evening, none of which were considered life-threatening. However, during officers’ investigations of the crashes, two were forced to leap out of the way of out-of-control vehicles, and one wrecked motorist was struck by one of the spinning cars.

“With winter road conditions upon us we would like to remind everyone to please drive with caution and slow down to arrive safe,” police advised.
