Police say person who climbed under tractor trailer was dragged to death

New York police are investigating the death of a person who they say climbed under a semi truck on Thursday.

Police were called to the scene just before 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, in New Paltz, New York, after witnesses saw a person get dragged under a truck.

The person was found already deceased in the roadway when officers arrived on scene.

Following an investigation, the Town of New Paltz Police Department that the person climbed under a UPS tractor trailer while the vehicle was stopped in traffic.

The truck driver was unaware that there was anyone under the truck and continued driving. The person was eventually dislodged from under the truck onto the roadway.

Police were able to make contact with the truck driver. They say that the truck driver is fully cooperating with the investigation and that no charges have been filed.
