UPDATE 3:30 PM Friday, May 22——————————————————-
The San Antonio Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a hit and run crash that killed a motorist early this morning.
Police say that they arrested 29 year old truck driver Justin Antwan Jackson on charges of failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.
The charges are a result of a fatal crash that occurred on I-10 at Dominion Drive in San Antonio, Texas, around 6 a.m.
During that crash, a semi truck reportedly struck a Ford Fiesta before leaving the scene. The woman driving the Fiesta passed away as a result of the crash.
Police later located the semi truck about 20 miles from the crash site in downtown San Antonio, where it had heavy front end damage and pieces of the Ford Fiesta still stuck to it.
Officers initially thought that the driver of the truck had abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving a second person, who was later identified as Jackson, asleep inside the truck.
Jackson told police that he was a passenger at the time of the crash and that he had felt something but that he didn’t think much of it because the truck kept going.
Jackson even gave police a description of a suspect, according to reporting from local news outlet San Antonio Express-News.
However, after contacting Jackson’s company and interviewing Jackson further, police placed him under arrest and charged him.
