Raw meat strewn across highway after semi slams into overpass

A semi truck driver was was injured in a crash that spilled his load of raw beef over Highway 616 in Alberta, Canada on June 24, 2020.

According to Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the northbound refrigerated truck went off the road and struck the side of the bridge at the Millet overpass around 7:35 a.m.

The contents of the trailer, raw beef, were spilled onto the bank and onto Highway 616.

A witness captured images of the scene.

The Millet overpass and QEII northbound closed while crews responded to the accident.

The driver of the semi was transported via STARS air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
