Rogue mattress spells disaster for trucker hauling produce

Published:

A semi truck hauling produce overturned on Monday evening after a mattress flew off another vehicle and into the roadway.

The incident happened on November 2nd at around 8:30 p.m. on the M4 Motorway near the Church Street off ramp in Parramatta, near Sydney, Australia.

According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, the 63-year-old unnamed truck driver was traveling along the M4 Motorway when a mattress carried by a dark-colored SUV suddenly came loose and flew off the vehicle.

The flying mattress caused the truck driver to swerve, which overturned the rig, spilling its load of fruit and vegetables all across the roadway.

The accident trapped the truck driver inside of his overturned rig and he had to be freed by first responders. The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officials say that the SUV driver fled the scene before first responders could arrive.
