Semi destroyed after bursting into flames at Illinois truck stop

Published:

Emergency crews responded to the scene after a tractor trailer caught fire Wednesday, Dec. 2 at a truck stop in Sauget, Ill.

The tail of the trailer was engulfed in flames, and it is unknown whether the driver sustained injuries.

“He was carrying PediaSure, PediaLyte, Ensure, Vitamin Water and other miscellaneous items,” Sauget Fire Chief Roger Thornton, told Belleville News-Democrat. “It looks like the brakes overheated.”

The truck was at the Loves truck stop parking lot at I-255 and Mousette Lane when the fire occurred.

In the video below, firefighters can be seen extinguishing the massive flames. It took crews approximately 90 minutes to control the fire.
