Police in Columbus, Ohio, believe that a semi truck may have taken gunfire after accidentally getting between a shooter and his intended target.
Police were called to the scene of the shooting on November 11, 2020 at 12:34 p.m. at I-70 east and S. Hamilton Road in Columbus.
Fifty-four year old victim Sean Rogers told police that he had been driving a white work van east on I-70 between Alum Creek Drive and US-33 when his passenger side window was shot out by gunfire.
Rogers also told police that he had been traveling behind a gray/silver SUV or minivan and that he had seen a person in front passenger seat hang out the window and open fire on another gold or brown vehicle.
“[Rogers] stated an unidentified semi-truck driver unintentionally got in the path of gunfire and may have been struck as well. The victim also stated that his vehicle was struck by gunfire when traffic suddenly haulted and he became lined up with the shooter’s vehicle,” Columbus police said.
Police did not provide a description of the semi truck involved in the incident.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
