The crash, which involved a tanker truck hauling hazmat material, occurred around 4:30 a.m. on November 20 on eastbound I-12 near mile marker 19 in Livingston Parish, Louisiana.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash “occurred as an eastbound 18 wheeler tanker truck impacted the rear of a fully marked LSP patrol vehicle stopped on the interstate shoulder. Both the LSP Trooper and the truck driver were transported to local hospitals with moderate injuries.”

The crash sparked a large fire and some residents reported hearing explosions.
