Semi truck hauling chicken burns to the ground

Police say the residue made the roadway ‘slippery.'

A semi truck hauling meat burned to the ground in South Dakota early Wednesday morning, leaving a slippery mess.

The incident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. on October 14th in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Tea Volunteer Fire Department reports that a semi truck hauling chicken meat caught fire on Interstate 29 north near the Tea exit, forcing the closure of all but one lane of the highway.

Police say that the closure caused another minor wreck and that the roadway was slippery due to residue from the fire.

As first responders worked to put out the flames, there was concern over the fire spreading due to dry and windy conditions. Luckily, the firefighters were able to contain the fire before any further damage was done.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
