Shipping container falls on yard truck, leaving driver trapped inside

A driver wound up trapped inside his cab when a shipping container fell on top of his truck at a South Carolina port facility.

The incident happened on September 15 at the Cargo Operations area at the North Charleston terminal.

The shipping container was “shifted from its position,” landing on the yard truck as it approached, according to the South Carolina Ports Authority. As a result, the truck driver was stranded inside the cab.

South Carolina Ports Authority, Charleston Stevedoring Company staff members, and North Charleston Fire & EMS were able to quickly extract the driver from his truck, according to authorities.

Once freed, the driver was transported to a local hospital and released from care later that afternoon.

HEPACO Environmental responded to the scene to recover any non-hazardous cargo that was released from the container.

Be Safe my ILA Family! As pointed out by another member of this page; within another post, there was a serious accident…
