Sleeping Truck Driver Narrowly Escapes Truck Fire

A sleeping truck driver narrowly escaped a truck fire.

The driver was sleeping in his truck at a Kohl’s parking lot in Plover, Wisconsin on Monday, when his truck caught fire.

The fire started around 4:30 pm. By the time the fire department arrived, the cab was fully engulfed, said Plover Fire Chief Mark Deaver.

Chief Deaver said that the truck driver was awakened by a phone call from a friend. That call likely saved the driver’s life.

“He did get woken up by the phone call of a friend and, as we have said, he should be thanking his friend for his life today,” said Chief Deaver. “Very lucky.”

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
