A semi truck is stuck in the Icicle River after leaving the roadway due to slick conditions.
The accident happened on Thursday, November 12th at around 7 a.m. on Highway 2 near Skykomish, Washington.
“The conditions were slick and possibly icy in that area,” said Trooper John Bryant to KPQ News Radio. “The initial investigation by troopers indicated the driver was maybe driving too fast for conditions.” The trailer was empty at the time of the crash.
Luckily, the 72-year-old Canadian truck driver, Bao Quan Li, was uninjured in the incident, but police say he was sitting on top of his partially submerged semi truck when they arrived, reported The Wenatchee World.
The truck is now stuck at an angle along an embankment with the cab partially submerged in the Icicle River.
As of 12:02 p.m., Highway 2 was shut down as crews worked to remove the rig. The roadway is estimated to reopen at around 4:00 p.m. Thursday evening according to WSDOT.
Drivers are advised to use Chumstick Highway to Beaver Valley Road to State Route 207 as a detour.
