A Tesla owner shared dash cam video of a collision with a truck that he said was the fault of the car’s Autopilot system.
The video clip was shared on Twitter by Tesla driver Alan Zavari on January 17.
Zavari said, “A happy #Model3 owner here. Driven ~20k mi on #Autopilot. Wondering why my car started moving when the semi in front of me was stopped. Why ALL sensors SUDDENLY ignored the giant semi? I hope @Tesla can provide answers as I’m not confident to use AP again. @ElectrekCo@elonmusk”
Tesla has repeatedly stated that Autopilot is intended as a driver assist system and is not a fully autonomous driving system. From Tesla’s website: “Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability are intended for use with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any moment. While these features are designed to become more capable over time, the currently enabled features do not make the vehicle autonomous.”
